About Me - Job History
My name is Rob Amos and I am the Director of Information Systems and Human Resources at Lake Shore Auto Parts in Jacksonville, FL. I have been here for ten years. I handle all technology related aspects of the company, such as the local network and servers, work station repairs, our e-commerce website construction and maintenance, the wide area MPLS network between our branches and communication systems and even biometric timeclocks and GPS tracking. It is never dull, to be sure.
Prior to this, I was a golf professional at The Golf Club of Amelia Island for nine years. The jobs seem worlds apart, but they had many of the same type of responsibilities and both relied heavily on technology to make the jobs easier and more productive.
I have lived in Fernandina Beach for 20 years and have been married for 10 years. We have 4 great kids, including two year old twin girls.
MBA Progress
I currently need 10 more classes including the two I am taking now to finish my MBA. I am hoping to finish by the fall of 2010, but more realistically at 2 classes per term with my work load and 4 children and a 90 mile round trip commute to Fernandina each day, the spring of 2011 looks more realistic.
Something People Would Not Know About Me
I have heard since I was a kid that my ancestry takes my family line back to President Thomas Jefferson. This has always peeked my interest and in recent years I became heavily involved in research to prove or disprove this information. It turns out that there is a direct line connection to President Thomas Jefferson's uncle - his father and my 9th great grandfather were brothers. Although documentation is lacking in a couple of links, I feel comfortable based on input from sources with different family trees that what we have is accurate. I was pretty excited once it was confirmed! I am now pursuing a different link to a famous person - I was named after my great grandfather Robert Lee Shelton, and there is a rumor that he was named after General Robert E. Lee and there was a family link... more research to come!!
